Where is Silver when you need him. Surely this is a question, for all Clubs, about restraint of trade issues. :smt017

As a Club is it reasonable that a Third Party can dictate the terms and conditions a business operates in this way. :? :? :?

P.S. Blatter is making a naked grab for control of the Club game as well so I am wary of everything he says and does. :-x

He has apparently shelved all of those plans altogether now that he knows the Foxes Trust are on to him

We could all stand idol & say nothing or at least make the point. Yes Blatter isn't going to change his mind, but who really is right over this issue Blatter or the FT - everybody knows we are.

Trouble is Blatter is more likely to listen to Arsenal kicking off about having to have home grown talent in their squad then a few lower League clubs who could go out of existance.

This decision in its own right won't cause it, but we know a number of clubs are very close to folding & this could be the decision that seals it.

Hasten to add our club isn't one of them, but we should look after the lower sides they may generate our next star

The ruling over English clubs involved in Europe not having to play replays in the F.A Cup next year seems to have gone by pretty much unnoticed. Maybe you could put something on your website about that?

The only thing I can say about that stupid ruling is Exeter City.

Exeter played Man U in the third round. Replays would still be played in third round matches, so the situation would not quite be the same. Replays will only be scrapped in later rounds, when there are unlikely to be teams like Exeter involved.

Still a crap decision though. The teams in Europe all have big enough squads to play three games in a week if they have to, they often send out reserve teams for cup matches anyway. And if they don't want to do that they'll just have to make sure they don't draw the first game.

Septic Bladder is a knob with nothing else better to do than upset football folk :D

I was refering to Exeter because they are a prime example of what could happen if teams don't get the opportunity they deserve, however unlikely. This is just another uneven playing field which favours the big clubs.

The theory is to aid Englands efforts by reducing the amount of games English clubs play. Surely we are also aiding other countries who's players represent replay exempt teams? Chelsea Arsenal etc...

Stupid!!

The idea isn't to reduce the amount of games England players play, but to give them longer to prepare for the World cup, by ending the season earlier.
The most sensible way to end the season earlier would be to start it earlier, but they've probably left it too late to do that.

So by making the season shorter, they run out of midweek slots to play cup replays. Teams who aren't in Europe can play the replays on a European night, but obviously those teams involved in Europe can't. That's why teams involved in European competition have been singled out, nothing to do with how many England players they have.

And I still think your point about Exeter is wrong. If their match agains Man U had gone into extra time and penalties in the first game I think they'd have had a much better chance of winning, than they did in a replay.
Premiership teams rarely lose in a replay, the best chance is to beat them in the first game. You only have to look at the recent fifth round ties to see that. Four teams from lower leagues got draws against Premiership teams, but they all lost after a replay.

We are drafting something up around that as well, however there are potentially further implications of this end of season problem which could be far more of a problem to us.

Anybody work it out before we publish?
