Leicester City will be fielding a young reserve line up when they face Southern League Western Division side Brackley Town at St James' Park tonight (Wednesday, ko 7:30pm).
Alan Sheehan, Chris O'Grady and Peter Canero will be joined by a host of Academy players for what is the Foxes' second reserve team pre-season fixture of the campaign.
England Youth international Tommy Wright (pictured) has recovered from injury take his place in the side.
Coaches Peter Houston and Kenny Black will be in charge of the squad once again after they guided a fledgling City squad to a 3-0 victory over Kettering Town 10-days ago.
City: Logan, Canero, Sheehan, Lycett, Smedley, Wykes, TBC, Wright, O'Grady, Dodds, Porter.
Subs: Norvall, Pentley, Franklin, Graham, Muggleton.
I get the feeling that Sheehan has dropped out of Levein's first team plans. Not only is he starting in a reserve team friendly, but last night against Celtic, Levein decided to use Stearman at LB ahead of Sheehan.
On top of that, there is also this quote from another article on the OS:
We are looking a defence that has pace and aggression and we have certainly got that this year.
"We have now got Patrik Gerrbrand, Paddy McCarthy, Nils-Eric Johansson, Richard Stearman and Patrick Kisnorbo who can play at the back.
No mention of Sheehan there, which is interesting. Although maybe that one should be taken with a pinch of salt, since Maybury isn't mentioned there either.
Still though, with all of this, anyone else get the impression that Sheehan has fallen down in CL's eyes?
