Shipperley snubs Foxes moveJan 25 2007
By Stuart Rayner, The Journal
Carlisle United have missed out on much-travelled striker Neil Shipperley and are likely to face the former Premiership frontman at the weekend.
But manager Neil McDonald is adamant Leicester City have shown no interest in rubbing salt into the wound by bidding for top-scorer Karl Hawley.
Geography prevented McDonald landing the former Chelsea, Barnsley, Nottingham Forest, Wimbledon, Crystal Palace and Southampton player, who has been released by Sheffield United.
The 32-year-old instead signed a four-month contract with bottom club Brentford, the Cumbrians' League One opponents on Saturday.
"It was going to be either Gillingham or Brentford that got him and he's decided to go to Brentford," said McDonald. "I made enquiries about him but was told he wanted to go back down south. His heart was set on that."
