Hey, It's poll time!

There has been a bit of a debate about this one. Considering we only need to draw, is playing Rooney the right thing to do? Personally I'm a bit undecided on this one.

If Owen is injured for the game, then I would play him upfront with Heskey. However If Owen is fit, then I would prefer Owen and Heskey upfront with Scholes playing just behind the front two.

The case for Rooney is that he scared the sh1t out of the Turks last time out. He may well do so again if he is picked.

However, playing in Turkey is a different matter - Would he able to cope with the intimidating atmosphere?

I suppose it depends largely on Owen's injury. But regardless of that, should Rooney make the starting XI?

No, No , thrice No!
Turkey is not the place for the feint hearted. Rooney , as good a player as he is, he has not got the temperament. ( Look at his performance on Satdy for the Toffees).
Owen could well be fit, if so play him and Heskey. If not Heskey and Vassell.

Fcuk the temperament, Turkey are gonna try and bully us anyway and with faint hearted players they may well do. Rooney is a thick skinned player and will be able to handle it all, live and learn boys thats what it's all about, do you roll 3 on every time u ava shag? live a little, take a few risks and feel the love.

Whats the point in hiding Rooney from these kind of atmospheres, he's got to face them at some point so why not now when we need him??

Theres no point in rolling Rooney up in cotton wool because it will do him no good.

Exactly Ricemonger, people are being too cautious!! also if Rooney does bite the cherry and retaliate and we lose, there's someone there to blame which is what the nation loves anyway! it makes me sick, come on England, it's Wayne's World now

As I said, I think it's very dependent on whther Owen will play or not. If Owen is fit, I can't see Rooney making the starting XI. Sven will want to go with experience for this game and will choose Owne and Heskey for his front pairing.

Personally, It's a difficult choice to make. But as Ricey has said, He's gonna have to experience these type of atmospheres sooner or late - Why not sooner?

Neither can I!!!

I have nothing to do at the moment - I've only just started Uni and only doing 12 hours a week plus 12 hours a work!

Once the work starts piling on, I will be on here less and less!

I blame this on Ricey - He recommended this bloody forum to me!

no, he's a liability
mouthy little scouse git.
he's only young and he can't act the same as Owen could

we want 11 players on at the end

Heskey - doesn't score often enough, not enough positive points

Rooney - quality finisher, tricky, good all round except for his temperament occasionally,

In a game where we need some sort of a result we need quality eg Rooney. He may be inexperienced but he is easily better than Heskey who is a lemon .

Ps - Collina may be reffing the match as the other one is injured + I hear that tickets for certain areas of the ground for the Brazil match will be at £10. Anyone know about this :?: :?:

Only for Kids I would imagine.

I went for YES as we cannot afford to lose his undoubted skill. He could be our shining light.
Id give him till @ least half time...if he is playing well, keep him on for a bit longer, but if its all getting too much, take him off and put one of the other strikers on.

this may sound stupid but i think that Rooneys short fuse will be an asset to us, he will fire up the Turkey players who WILL lose their cool after all they are chasing and his skill will cause them to dive in and recieve cards...ETC! oh yeah and one more thing - the boys a ****ing pocket genius!
