Leicester City striker Islam Slimani will spend the 2019/20 campaign on loan with Ligue 1 side AS Monaco after a season-long loan deal was agreed between the two clubs.

The 31-year-old Algeria international has been with the Foxes since 2016, scoring 13 times in 46 games, as well as completing loan spells at Newcastle United and Fenerbahçe during that time.

He appeared 25 times for the Yellow Canaries last term before going on to help Algeria lift the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations title in the summer.

Slimani joined Leicester City from Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon in 2016, where he scored more than 50 goals in just over three seasons, while also netting twice for Algeria at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

He will now link up with AS Monaco and could make his debut for the Ligue 1 outfit at home to Nimes on Sunday afternoon.

We have absolutely stitched them up and I can’t imagine how it’s come about. What a surreal story.

Has anyone got his agent’s number? I’ll be CEO of Google by the end of the week.

Not if, as I suspect, we're paying pretty much all his wages.
No, even then. His attitude stinks; he’s never given a **** here, and he’s not pretended to give a **** during either of his previous loan spells. He was comically bad at Newcastle. The toxicity of the very presence of a player apparently deliberately flushing his career down the shitter should never be underestimated. Getting him out for an entire season? Worth an absolute fortune.

They will be hoping they can get back the player he was at sporting.

Said on RL Monaco have the option to sign him at the end of the season on a free transfer

Financially the worst striker we have ever had or does Ade still win that contest?

Nope, Slimani wins.

I’m not sure.

11 goals in 58 for Ade (5.3m - 2000)

8 in 35 for Slim (28m - 2016)

Slim scored in 23% of his games. Ade in 19% of his.

What would the 5.3m paid in 2000 be the equivalent of today?

About £8million today

We got £2m+ for Ade, doubt we’ll recoup much for Slim. Big money strikers not being successful at LCFC is the rule rather than the exception IIRC.

Musa, Kramaric, Fenton, Robins, Graver, off the top of my head probably loads more and I expect there’ll be more along as the seasons roll by.
