Prof. Snape new captain for leicestershire. Find this slightly bizarre as he has rarely featured in championship cricket in the last couple of seasons.

He's a wrong 'un if you ask me...

I'm mystified by this. Is he now guaranteed a first team spot ahead of Claude? What about Maddy, who was vice-captain and has probably been waiting for this chance for years? Would'nt be astounded to see him leave - after all that's what happened with Ben Smith.

Don't get me wrong I like Snape as a one-day cricketer.
You never know, it could be an inspired move by Tim Boon.

Strange choice I agree - what's the story behind Ackerman chucking in the towel? He was brought over on big bucks (for Leics anyway) as an experienced leader and now "he wants to concentrate on his batting"

Waste of time............:(

It is a surprising choice, but for some reason i've got a good feeling about it as well. Snape i think would make an excellent captain, although im not sure how much contribution he will make with bat and ball. I can see him really firing up the youngsters and getting a lot out of the team.

Any rumours of new players coming in - seam bowling seems a bit light after losing Otis and Daffy?

Also Asif is surely going to be in the Pakistan touring party??

it's a bit difficult to get rumours on the cricket transfer front. As it stands only Mongia (retained) and Asif are new signings as such. Would like to see an experienced seamer signed to help Broad, Cummins and Asif.
