We didn't do as well as we should have this season so we need to make changes. We should be as pro-active as possible and go out and sign the upgrades we need and let the chaff go. If we just wait to see who leaves it'll all end in tears with late or no signings.
I'm going to give my opinions - that's all they are, so no need to get nasty - on the present team and back-up, feel free to give yours.
Kasper - Keep if he wants to stay, if not go and get one of the good young keepers around. The difference in keepers is overstated in the prem. They are very dependant on what is in front of them.
Simpson - big upgrade needed, Simpson can stay as a squad player as we don't have another RB
Morgan - big upgrade needed, Morgan can go to Newcastle and weaken a competitor or stay as a Wasilewski like mentor for the younger guys.
Huth - Keep and start
Fuchs - upgrade - love his long throws but he was a bombscare at the back most of the season. Chilwell should replace him and let him go to NY.
Mahrez - for me this depends on the style we are going to play next season, possibly the most skillful player we've ever had but a failure most of the year. I'd keep him and change our style of play but if a massive offer comes in and he wants to go, so be it.
Ndidi - keep and start
Drinkwater - keep and start
Albrighton - keep and play when the opposition is right, dependant on our formation and style
Okazaki - upgrade, by all means he can stay in Leicester but he should rarely be in the first team.
Vardy - keep and start - unless we change our style of play.
This season's reserves
Zieler - he wasn't given a chance to show what he can do with the defence in front of him early in the season this means he doesn't merit starting if Kasper goes. Can warm the bench I guess.
Hamer - go.
Chilwell - Time to start
Wasyl - we know he's gone
Benalouane - keep as a back-up CB, not starting material though.
Wagué - no idea but unlikely to be starting material
Amartey - keep. I don't know if he can play CB, he's decent in CM, he isn't an RB. Back-up utility player who hopefully can prove himself good enough for the first team.
King - upgrade, he's not a starter and I'd prefer he wasn't ever on the bench. Maybe he's good for the younger players to see that a player can play League 1 and win a Prem title.
Mendy - keep, if he's fit he could still make the first team and certainly be back-up.
Kapustka - keep, he looked good for Poland, no idea what has happened in training, should be challenging mahrez, Albrighton and Gray for a place in the team. plus he's still young.
Gray - keep. See how he progresses and interchange with Mahrez and Albrighton when we need a skillful attacking player on the pitch.
Musa - I have no idea.
Ulloa - he can go.
Slimani - Move him into the first team alongside Vardy and Mahrez and let's see if it works.
So I reckon without anyone being poached from us, our major needs are CB and RB of starting quality, backup LB, CB (again) and striker.
but I also think we need a new manager and dependant on who that is and how he wants us to play the above could change.
