Should De Vries play for City, will he be the first South American to play in a League or Cup game for us :?:

I know his "official" nationality has been stated as dutch but I also know he has represented Surinam at some level, just not sure if his birthplace is Surinam or Holland.

Jimmy Hasselbaink and Edgar Davids are both "Surinese Dutch" as well must be a few knocking about

It used to be Dutch Guyana, one down from French Guyana and two down from Guyana.

Born in Surinam, striker De Vries played much of his football in Holland before being snapped up by Levein.

Don't know what nationality he's taken though. It's all Dutch to me! :roll:

I don't think De Vries was every gonna be called up ahead of Van Nistelrooy, Bergkamp, Kluivert and the likes... so maybe he should have opted for Surinam
