I have a column in a spread sheet that has alphanumeric data, with the first four characters in every cell made up of letters, followed by a string of numbers, no spaces between any characters.

Is there a handy way for me to remove the letters from each cell, just leaving the numbers there?

Why don't you just pay somebody to do it you ****ing bully :icon_wink

If I don't find a way to do it I'll have to coerce an illegal immigrant to do it for me.

Assuming you're using Excel, there are several ways of doing this, but the easiest way is to highlight the column, click on Data, Text to columns, Fixed width, and then select 'do not import' for the first four characters.

I may need to do it on more than 1 PC so will be using either Excel or Open Office.

Thanks for that Jeff, I'll give it a lash tomorrow.

Assuming the cells are in col A then -

=RIGHT(A1, LEN(A1)-4)

Also is there no way to do a RegEx replace in Excel, would be a simple enough regex, something like [0-9]*

oh an excel thread i missed :(

Thanks for all of your helpful suggestions lads, I decided to go with Melton's in the end & delegated it to somebody else.

Not an illegal immigrant, by the way, he's more of a hippy type from Kilkenny and I didn't have to bully him into it, but he will get a few slaps with a stick if he makes a balls of it.
