No doubt forked out a little more than we'd have liked but by all accounts he's viewed as one of the top French CBs of the next generation. IMO he's not just 'one for the future' either. Johnny Evans is getting on a bit and will probably take more of a backseat role like Fuchs and Morgan as Fofana gets up to speed. This is the main reason I think this deal is preferable to bringing in Tarkowski. Will also add some much needed height to our backline.

Both the same age. I think Fofana has only been in the first team regular since Saliba left in the last year. So he filled the void left by that transfer. Anyway we are are talking about Arsenal here who once boasted about nearly buying Mahrez and Kante....
