What do the stats tell us?
1. Scored only three goals in six games. Very poor
2. No goals scored in three home games. Bizarre
3. Two 'goalless' home defeats against very weak opposition. Crap
4. Main strikeforce yet to register. Unacceptable
5. Six goals conceded. Average
Our problem is creating and finishing. Perhaps creating more than finishing. IT IS NOT DEFENDING. We are finding it hard to break down teams particularly at home when the opposition gets behind the ball.
Sorry, but I don't buy this hoofing nonsense. We have many passing players who do pass. In fact Williams and Nalis are getting in the neck because they do just that. Then they are accused of passing sideways.
Promotion form demands something like a 1.5 goal a game average -three times our current 0.5 performance. To do that midfielders and attacking full backs have got to supply a mixture of 50/50 and gilt edged chances. That isn't happening.
Connolly is clearly low on confidence. Looking at all the chances he has been presented with (which admittedly are low in quality and quantity) he should have scored three by now. Perhaps warming the bench for a couple of games might make him more determined and a little less anxious.
As for the midfield, Christ knows. It needs inspiration and drive. An individual to take the game by the scruff of the neck. And this is where I agree with most of you. Micky needs to blood in one or two youngsters who really want to play and make names for themselves. Some kids who will shame the others into performing.
Mr Wesolowski ('Weso') looks the part. Harry Kewell eat your Ozzie heart out because this kid is dynamite.
