Melton Fox

Dancing Queen
I firmly believe this club has something rotten inside it, but I'm not sure what it is. Does it need stripping down, sterilising and putting back together? I've looked at our demise since our last relegation from the Prem a few times and tried to find the constants and (almost) ever presents.

- A succession of shit Managers
- Richard Stearman
- Mike Stowell
- The Walkers Stadium
- The Fans
- Alan Birchenall
- Filbert Fox

Filbert Fox, Birchenall, and the fans have been here since we had our good times, so effectively they can be ruled out.

Why do seemingly good players come here and turn shit overnight?

Martin Keown
Dion Dublin
Steve Howard
Stephen Clemence
Mark Yeates
Andy Johnson
DJ Campbell
Radostan Kishishev

And loads more.

If there is an infection? WTF is it?

i think one of the problems is the positioning of the away fans! Stick them near the kop again to build an atmosphere....maybe not this season as i can't se many coming but in future......

Also we need a manager with a pair who will have the bollocks to transfer list the whole squad if need be

FFS atmosphere is down to what is being offered on the pitch, get a run of good results and the fans will make noise. Its not down to away fans FFS!

We are still rubbish away from home, you know.

I wonder how much noise 50 Cheltenham fans will create as well. Should be awesome

The problem of good players becoming bad at City then improving when they leave is solely down to the quality of the managerial and coaching staff.

We never seem fit enough to play ninety minutes and have to many injury prone players it would seem.

We never seem to have a manager than can manage people and engender an obvious spirit in the squad.

We have had a succession of not good enough mangers going back a long way.

There are some beacons at the Club though. Messrs Beaglehole and Rudkin have done a good job and any perceived failure at their end is down to the above.

Good post, Stevo. Good post :038:

As I've said a few times. Our academy is the biggest waste of money out. What's the point in coaching these kids to hand them over to the idiots at the top?

But who are these idiots at the top? Surely they cannot all have been piss poor? We're going back years and with very different people in these positions after all.

This is my first post for a while for various reasons, but now we find ourselves in this disasterous position, which has if were honest has been coming for a couple of years(Funny how the fans can see it but the ostriches cant, they just bury their heads and say it wont happen to us.)It gives us a chance to take the club to bits, remove the rotten parts and put it back together again. The players we have at this club plus the fearlessness of youth should be good enough to get us out of this division.Any player who wants to go let them, what we need are players commited to the club not players in the twilight of their careers coming here for 1 last payday.MM has to choose the right manager this time and stick with him,who knows he could get lucky twice and find another Harry, but he has to back him to the hilt.Whoever it is wont have much money so he has sell to buy (And fck me theres a lot to sell)
but MM will want us promoted at the first attempt so a manager needs appointing sooner rather than later to cull the underachievers and to show the rest whos boss,no matey matey from here.Nows the chance to get it right from top to bottom let the surgery begin root and branch

Hopefully Mike Stowell will be gone for good this time.

I want to blame him.
So do I, and I do blame him for lots. I also blame the Managers for not telling him to piss off.

I thought Micky Adams was ok,still think Craig Levein ill do well down here one day and Megson again was ok

It is because we have the Kop at the wrong end, they don't sell my favourite flavour of Monster Munch and Rob Kelly's rolling contract was buried under the centre circle.

I think that you are almost right (strip, sterilise and rebuild). The problem is, that in modern football, a manager cannot do it. Time is not on offer. Look at Leicester now, Milan is saying that the three year plan is still on: back to back promotions and - hey presto! Realistic or no, that is what the new man will be expected to offer.

I think the most important step for MM, is to let the manager ( whoever it maybe) manage, cease his interfernce, ie. bringing players to the club, who don't fit into the managers style. Players need to know they work for one boss, being Chair of the club does not give him the coaching abilities. Harry Rednapp, obviously stood up to MM and and paid the price ie his job. However MM always went back to Harry, and Harry got his way, and in fairness he's worked wonders for Southampton. Thats what we need, someone willing to put his job on the line, and get players working and playing for him and the club.Bring back Martin Allen?
