The Mercury quoted Cliff Ginetta speaking for the supporters although as a supporter he certainly did not speak for me. It then occurred to me that I have only myself to blame since despite caring deeply (some would say too deeply) about Leicester City I have never been a member of the Official Supporters Club, the Independent Supporters Club or the Foxes Trust. Indeed I have no idea of the difference between them.

Perhaps I should join one - but which one. In what way is the Official Supporters Club official in a way that the Independent one is not. In what way is the Foxes Trust not a supporters club.

I realise that this thread is open to comments such as "The Foxes trust are a bunch of ___" and thats fine. However, I would appreciate it if some people who are in one rather than the other would explain the difference.

He doesn't speak for the entire Supporters Club and tbh I'm tempted to tell him as much when I see him on satdee. At times the utter twaddle he comes out with in his 'representation' of the SC is embarrassing.

I'm sure as a father, he'd be delighted to know his daughter might be working at the same place as a registered sex offender.

btw, I'm on the Hinckley Branch committee of the SC.:023:

Being in the SC means you don't have to go in or set up a 'pre-order' thingy for away games, as you order them through your travel rep and get your tickets either on the day of the game on the coach, or you pick them up from travel rep a few days before the game.

I normally 'book on' about a month in advance, but don't need to settle up til the week before the game, whereas buying the tixs yourself, they go on sale two weeks before said game.

I'm not a member of any of them. The official mob seem to be more involved with the club than Lance whatshisface and his mates, but if you join them you'd have to meet Beaumont. The Foxes Trust I won't comment on.

I'm not THAT bad!

plus I've always got tickets for non-STH for games without any problems(even back when it was harder to get away tickets as they didnt have many going on Gen Sale)

Trouble with that was, certain folk didn't appreciate the trouble I went to and even ended up with me having to pay out when they 'changed their mind' the day before an away game leaving me well out of pocket on a weekend before payday. I wasn't exactly impressed with being treated like an idiot put it that way!(Wasn't the first time either!)

There are differences between the organisations, and activities of Supporters Clubs & Supporters Trust do vary from club to club.

As an example, many other Trusts organise away coaches and/or tickets. However when the Foxes Trust set up we agreed with Cliff & Lance that we would not cut across any activity they already had in place.

When we first met with Cliff he said he was happy to "leave all the political stuff to you".

Across the country, Trust's are generally known as being more questioning of their club than more traditional supporters clubs.

Our declared aims, link below, are typical of a Trust

You can read more about Trust's nationally via our main body, Supporters Direct (SD)
http://www.supporters-direct.org/home.asp?reg=engwal

As you will see if you follow the SD link, a good example would be that over 50 Trusts submitted evidence to the Select Committee for the Department of Culture, Media and Sport's inquiry into Football Governance, Supporters Clubs did not get involved

If you have any questions about the Foxes Trust, then e-mail [email protected] and we will come back to you

Do clubs listen to these people? Do they chuff.

They listen to a drop in revenue or ideas to increase it. You want to make a difference? Withdraw financial support for the things you don't agree with or the entire club.

I've never heard, seen or met Lance although I suspect that the Trust's plummeting numbers means that his bunch have jumped into the number two slot with their four members.

Are you suggesting you know how many members the FT has?

I've supported Leicester City for as long as I can remember. I have never felt the need to join any organisation as I already belong to the biggest group of Leicester City supporters.

The Supporters' Club is all about organising travel and events and stuff like that. It does a decent job, from what I've heard. If you need tickets/travel arrangements etc., then it might be worth you joining

I have no idea what Tomlyn's outfit do, but I suspect it's something similar.

As you say, it's probably best not to talk about the FT, as I would just trot out the usual stuff about them being utterly completely pointless and useless etc. - so I won't mention them, then...

It's not Ginetta's fault that our local media go to him regularly for a quote on everything, or that they constantly use his twaddle as being representative of the fans point of view. Same goes for Tomlyn. They just give their own point of view, bizarre that it may seem in nearly every case

In the absence of anything else, the lazy local 'journalist' will always go there

Didn't Ginetta finally fall off the fence after decades of platitudes by saying we didn't want Sven here? When they can't find him the jornos seem to call on Jobber and even Jersey Budd.

There was a group called ALF back in the 80s (something Leicester Fans , Alliance?, Abusive?, Anal?) - then Blue Tuesday who at least defined the "problem" - little or no investment - and could be depended upon to gratuitously insult Martin George.

Don't blame them really - even a Rusty Lee quote would be better than the Foxes trust....

Ambitious Leicester Fans - not really a supporters'Club; more of a lobby group - campaigned for the whole of the Kop to be given back to City fans.

While our membership numbers plummeted from the first year of membership & fell again once Milan took over the club (as our LCFC board representation ceased), the Trust's membership numbers have stablised in recent years.

An individual withdrawing their financial support in isolation would not be identified by the club, however if members reported to a supporters organisation that they intended not to go to games anymore because of Factor Y (a current example according to fans the Mercury have spoken to being the potential signing of Marlon King), the supporters organisation would raise the issue with the club.

The Trust has on-line survery software within our membership database to enable us to gain the strength of feeling on topics from members

Just out of interest, how many members do you currently have?

I have my own branch of a supporters club too. You have to know me and give me a fiver at the start of every year. I might give you priority to jump in the Hazzmobile but this will come at an additional supplement of the price of a full tank of petrol. ...The Hazzmobile is a 4.2 litre beast disguised as a Ford Focus.

PM me with your bank details if interested.

....everyone else is at it on here, thought I might give it a go.

I won't be joining, you sicko.

As long as you are both happy and occupied.
