Was the appeal rejected? The Mockery claimed that City appeal over it.

I don't know where they got that idea from. There is no appeal against the one-match ban for 5 yellow cards.

They wasn't appealing the ban, they was asking the ref to review the yellow card as it was given for handball that wasn't apparantly.

It looked very much to me as though the yellow card was given for dissent.

That was my view as well. However there was something in one of the The Blue Army write ups about them contesting the yellow card because it wasn't handball.
I'll see if I can find it.

You can't. But a referee may 'review' the decision to give a yellow card. There is no procedure for asking a referee to consider 'reviewing' his decision.
