Syncing calendars - home, office and Android devices

For some reason, Google Calendar takes ages to sync with my HTC phone and I am looking for a better solution.

If I use Outlook 2010 calendar at home I can sync with my phone via the HTC sync software. If I then get to my office, presumably I can them sync my phone with my office copy of Outlook so that both home and office Outlook calendars are the same.

Or can I?

Are there any formatting options or suchlike that wouldn't get transferred to the phone and therefore wouldn't be transferred to my work calendar?

Anyone got any good ideas for the best way to have synchronised calendars at home, office and phone WITHOUT using Google Calendar?

Never had the problem myself but I stopped using Gcalendar as I use the outlook sync function to sync mry office calendar and don't want loads of competing calendars. Plugging a phone into a computer to sync calendars just seems crazy to me when over the air syncs work.
