I'm thinking of getting season tickets for myself and my son for next season. The thing is he will only be 4 in July. Is there anybody else on here who take young kids to the walkers? I would be grateful for any feedback/views on this. I would normally sit in the kop but will change to the family stand.

we've been taking our son since the walkers opened - he's now 11- sit in the family stand - no problems good atmosphere

I'm taking my son to his first game on monday and he won't be 4 till october. I've had a season ticket for him for 2 years, only because the seat next to me became available...and at £45 for the season you can't complain. We'll be sitting in the Kop. One of 2 things will happen...he'll fidgit like mad or he'll fall asleep!

The same story for my 4 year old sis, she came to Blackpool earlier in the season and had lost interest by half time. Worth having the cheap seat though like you say, we use ours for upgrades for friends and family.

I don't want to end up sitting on the family stand on my own every week if he's not interested after a couple of games. I should of taken him to a recent game to see how he gets on as I was hoping to purchase the season tickets tomorrow to take advantage of the price. Not sure what to do now.

I took my 4 year old to the Forest game (she's a January birthday so about 6 months older than your child). We sat in the Family Stand and she was really good, she didn't get bored, enjoyed the atmosphere and asked a lot of questions about what was going on. I would take her to another match but wouldn't buy her a ST as I don't think she'd be up for going every week as it would lose some of the novelty that going to the odd game has.

This obviously may not be the case for your child, just thought I'd post my experience in case it helps.

Drop 'em off at the pool first.

I took my kids to the odd family night football at the Walkers at that age because we had the free use of a box. They used to be totally bored after about 15 mins. However they never used to sit through children's dvds at that age either whereas some of their friends did.

I guess it depends on the child.

Wouldn't you enjoy it more with your friends in the kop?

I first took homer junior when he was four

He watched some of the game, got a bit bored, watched a bit more, fidgeted and moaned a bit towards the end

Progressed a few games later to watching twenty minutes or so and then playing on his DS

Now (aged six) progressed to watching about half to three quarters of the game, and reading a magazine or the programme or drawing pictures the rest of the time. DS no longer makes an appearance

Can't say he loves it, but enjoys the day out and being with me for afternoon

We sit in the kop - don't think I could bear it in the family stand

You can always upgrade their ticket to an adult one...which is what i normally do until my son goes more regular. For £45 for there season ticket you haven't really got anything to lose

I've only just stopped taking my DS with me.

What's happened to kids these days :icon_lol:, I used to watch the whole 90 minutes when I was 4 and that was with Pleat as manager.

Have to say that there have been occasions when I've grabbed it off him.....

Getting in a 10 minutes game on SuperMario during the match has never hurt anyone.

I am going to avoid answering your question since others have relevant experience. However, I would make a couple of points.

It is great to have fathers taking their sons or daughters to matches. I look back on the times when I went to see games (sadly not Leicester but Birmingham or Wolves) with my dad and I am sure many others find it gives memories they will not forget

The World Cup should have many opportunities to build up a childs interest in football. I am not suggesting he would watch 90 minutes of TV but there will no doubt be books with sticky pictures and he can pick favourite players. You will know whether he is too young to learn some very very simple Geography. For children somewhat older than four what a chance the World Cup is to learn where countries are.

Whether you or not choose to go with your four year old I hope that you will make sure you go when he is older. He will remember it for the rest of his life.

Why not buy the ST's in the Family Stand & then if it doesn't work out, then go back to the ticket office & ask if you can move your ST to another stand. Certain the club will oblige

I started taking my lad at that age and through the first few matches he was more interested in what was going on off the pitch, Slowly he started to get more interested in the football, the bag of sweets and hot choc at half time became a must.

The misses says that as a kid he always looked forward to our time together, and he seen it as a special treat.
He never wanted to go down with his mates, Now, 17 years later, he makes concidrable efforts to get back for home matches.

The people in the family stand are more tollerant of kids, so I would start in the family stand and once he starts to enjoy 90 mins of football move to the cop. Either way

The answer is simple, The kid will love it. do it
