I thought I'd kick this one off

Henderson
Stearman
Gerrbrand
Johannsson
Sheehan
Sylla
Kisnorbo
Williams
Hammil
MDV
Hammond

Douglas
Wilcox
Dublin
Gudjonnsson
Maybury

Pure guesswork but I'd expect changes/resting players (2 games in 3 days starting Saturday)

I would go for the following :

Henderson

Stearman
Gerrbrand
Johansson
Gilbert ( Needs games IMO to get into the pattern of play)

Sylla
Tiatto ( Missed fist two, so doesnt need a rest)
Williams
Hamill

MDV
Hammond

Subs

Douglas
Maybury
Kisnorbo (Not fit enough to start IMO)
Gudjonsson
Dublin

not too sure about the hamill guy. wilcox will play to keep him match fit incase he needs to come in for tiatto.

henderson
stearman
gerrbrand (mcarthy seems to have a niggling injury)
nills
gilbert

sylla
kisnorbo
williams
wilcox

hammond
dublin

de vries
maybury
tiatto
rab c
gudjonsson

I just thought he wouldn't play Wilcox for the very reason he doesn't want him injured if/when Tiatto is injured/suspended.Regarding Kisnorbo surely he needs competitive action in order to get fit I would have thought this would be an ideal game for him to start in and play a hour.

I would have thought it best to ease Kisnorbo into action by maybe giving him 30 minutes from the bench and maybe a couple of starts in the ressies rather than throw him in from the start of what could be a blood and thunder cup tie. I agree about Wilcox and surely this is a perfect opportunity to have a look at Hamill. I think the management know enough about Wilcox and what he can produce.

CL has already said he wants a strong team to play. My guess is:

Douglas
Maybury/Stearman, Gerrbrand, Johansson, Gilbert
Sylla, Williams, Joey, Tiatto
Hammond, De Vries

I don't think Kisnorbo is fit enough to start yet, but if he is then he probably will. If not just bring him off the bench for a little while.

Anyone with slight knocks or niggling injuries will probably be left out, which is why I think Gerrbrand will play instead of McCarthy

I reckon

Douglas
Maybury Gerrbrand Nils Gilbert
Sylla Williams Tiatto Hammil
MDV Hammond

Henderson

Stearman Gerrbrand Johansson Gilbert

Elvis Gudjohnsson Williams Hammill

De Vries Dublin

i think sylla needs a rest and elvis is the only option we have apart from him at the moment.

What's the thoughts on this game?

A good run to lift spirits and team moral, or an early exit to give less risk of injuries and fatigue in our Championship campaign?
If the draw is kind it would be nice to see the boys win a few 'comfortable' games, get used to winning ways etc.

Yeah, I'd like us to win this game, and maybe the next one, but wouldn't mind going out after that. We already have a lot of injuries and I think the less games we play, the better. But as you say, it will be nice for the team to win a few games and hope it starts us off on a run. Plus it gives Elvis a better chance to score probably ;)

good cup runs always lift the team and the Carling cup is the one to do it in as we are unlikely to go all the way in the FA, even though Millwall fluked it a couple of seasons ago.

A good cup run is always good for the club i.e. revenue etc. and any trip to cardiff would be nice as it will prob be the last time we get to go there for a while for a major cup final.

It does worry me that we could face burnout around the turn of the year but that is something that could happen with just league games and a few suspensions and injuries. I say go for it. We arent guaranteed promotion even if we drop out of the cup so lets try every possible option. If we do have to stay down for another season then at least the money raised from a good cup run or two would help the bank balance a little.

With regards to the line-up, i think it will be strong.

I also think McCarthy will play if he's 100% because i think CL realises the defence needs to play together more.

Sylla wasn't supposed to play against ipswich, and he didn't look as mobile and pacey in the last two games, so i think he will be rested.

How far is Hughes from being fit? could he feature from the bench?

I Expect

Douglas
Maybury Gerrbrand Nisse Gilbert
Hamill Gudjonsson Williams Tiatto
Dublin Hammond

I guess that CL would like to rest a few regulars but 1) he hasn't got many players anyway; 2) he has little or no strike force without playing Dublin .... so he is obliged to pick a 'strong' side to try to avoid an embarrassing defeat.

It also goes without saying that the club needs a cup run to generate the cash to bridge the shortfall on home league attendances.

Bury lost 4-0 away to Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday but would like us to put out a team as close to a first team as possible after all at this stage of the competition there is always a good chance of an upset. Also, it gives us chance to get among the goals and build confidence.

One thing we don't wanna do is sit back and relax knowing we will easily win. I would like us to net 5 goals tomorrow night.

That's right, don't sit back and expect an easy win, 5? pah, at least 9...:icon_lol:

I expect a strong team tomorrow and it would make sense as the first XI are still learning to play with each other.

Sylla seems to be out according to Sky text.

Craig Levein says his side will be preparing for Tuesday night's Carling Cup first round tie against Bury as they would for any other match.
And that means the Foxes boss will be sending a full strength side to Gigg Lane as Leicester look to progress to the second round in the competition that has treated them so well in the past.
But City have a number of injury worries going into the game, meaning that Levein faces something of a selection quandary ahead of the clash.
He said: "We will be putting out as strong a side as we possibly can for the Bury game because we want to do well in the cup competitions, but we have got a few injuries at the moment and that is a little bit of a worry.
"Patrick McCarthy didn't train on Monday morning because he has got an ankle problem, while Dion is still a bit stiff after the game on Saturday.
"Plus, we have still got a problem with both David Connolly and Stephen Hughes. It will be a case of waiting until the day of the game to find out who is available."
Bury go into the game on the back of a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Wycombe, but Levein has taken no chances in his approach to the match.
He added: "I have seen Bury and we have had them watched three times, so we have a fair idea about their players and how they are going to play.
"It will be a tough match. You can go into a game like this thinking that it shouldn't be a major problem and that is how shocks happen. We will have to make sure that we are concentrated fully because we saw on Saturday what happens when we don't do that. We have to make sure that we are right for this - and we will be.
"It will be difficult because of the fact that we are expected to win it. That brings it's own pressures. I never take any game lightly, certainly not in any cup competitions, and we will be doing our utmost to get through."
Tickets will be available from Gigg Lane on the night of the game, priced at £12 for adults and £6 for concessions.
The Foxes will wear their new all-yellow third kit on the night, which goes on sale at the City Megastore on Thursday.

If we assume that CL will rest Dion, McCarthy, Connolly and Hughes, plus Sylla who needs a rest IMO, then the team will be..

-------------------Douglas---------------------
Maybury---Gerrbrand-----Johansson----Gilbert--
-----------------Gudjonnson--------------------
Hammond---------Tiatto---------Hammil/Wilcox--
--------------------Williams--------------------
-----------------Dublin/De Vries-----------------

I think we will keep the 1st team back 4 bar Paddy, with a 5 man midfield as we are away in a cup game against a team eager to show their worth against a higher league team and make up for their 4-0 defeat against Wycombe.

We will have to put Elvis on the right as there is no-one else who can play there, and we cant really have the 2 big men up front as there is no pace between them.

So the only formation is to have Joey as the holding midfielder, Tiatto in the centre, Hammil or Wilcox on the left (my vote goes to wilcox) and Williams attacking mid.

At half time they should bring on Sylla for the left sided midfielder and put Elvis up front with De Vries/ Dublin, and move Tiatto across to the 'left', therefore playing 4-4-2 and looking to win the game with elvis and syllas pace.

Just my thinking except i would expect Stearman to get a run-out assuming he is fit and possibly sheehan coming on from ht bench if things are going well.

Hammil can play on the right wing as well as the left wing so he's an option if Sylla is out.

ah, well if that is the case then we could play elvis and a big man up front so elvis can get the goals he is promising us ;)
so long as hammill uses his right foot we will be ok! i hate it when players play on the 'wrong' side and turn to cross with their better foot, I know it cant be helped but it does spoil the momentum of the attack.
