Craig Levein faces an anxious wait on the fitness of four players ahead of Saturday's Championship clash against Reading at the Madejski Stadium.
Alan Maybury limped out of Tuesday night's 3-2 defeat at the hands of Stoke with a groin injury, while Joey Gudjonsson, Dion Dublin and Jordan Stewart all required treatment after the match.
But Levein is hoping to have at least three of his injured players back in action ahead of the weekend.
He said: "Alan, Joey, Jordan and Dion didn't train today (Thursday) for various reasons. Alan would be the most concerning as he has a calf strain.
"The other three should be fine but Alan might struggle. We'll have to wait and see."
And the City boss revealed he had a contingency plan in place should his defender not make the game.
He added: "Peter Canero is back and we have got the option of playing him on the right hand side of defence. We have also got Richard Stearman who can play there and he has done very well in the games that he has played. I wouldn't have any hesitation in playing either of them."
Levein also confirmed some good news concerning his long-term absentees.
He said: "Jason Wilcox, Nathan Blake and Lee Morris should be back in action in the next fortnight, which is good news."
