I have pretty much been lying in bed being sick and doing fook all for the past few days, so I thought I might aswell give this programme a go.

I got an IQ of 97.

Don't know if it is good or bad.

If it is good then I'm a genius, If it's a shit score it's because I ain't feeling great.:icon_bigg

Cheers, you are right I suppose. You have to have something special to sit through a whole Anne Robinson programme.

Alright, I didn't realise you had to watch an Anne Robinson programme all the way through. In that case you are some sort of ****, but at least you are an intelligent one :icon_wink :icon_lol:

I'm sure he would.

IQ tests are a load of bollocks anyway, there are many sorts of intelligence, and IQ tests really only measure stuff like logical thinking, so they shouldn't be used to judge how 'clever' someone is.
A company in our trade (Mars) miss out on some of the best sales people because they can't pass their IQ and aptitude test. They are brilliant people and would be an asset to their company but can't do their silly puzzles. Mars know this but refuse to change it

There is a world of difference between IQ, general knowledge and common sense. I'd take 2 & 3 over number 1 anyday (although I don't have a great deal of choice over number 1)

I actually got 101 just watched the results programme. 46/70.

I have done one before and got an I.Q. of 109 so agreed it is bollocks.

Maybe you've just got a bit thicker :102:

The biggest problem is that they are frequently misused. As you say, they measure a narrow set of abilities - which is OK if that is what you need to measure and understand what you are doing and why. As part of a carefully designed battery of tests they can be useful.

The second is that they are frequently poorly designed, using culturally biased questions or relying heavily on a particular type of question - last night's was a good example of that.

As it was on TV, many of the questions involved detailed colour pictures (a real life test would use mainly line drawings and less of them), disadvantaging anyone with a poor quality or small TV set, or any sight defect or colour blindness. One whole set of questions were about morphing faces of "celebrities", much easier to deal with if you actually recognised the people in the pictures. And also, each question was allocated a fixed time, whereas part of the test should be working against the clock on the paper as a whole - using the ability to organise the way you do it to advantage. In real life the results would have been analysed with reference to a standardised Normal Curve, to help iron out minor design faults, not used raw.

But as a bit of fun, I suppose it was OK
