It seems to me they are becoming more and more inefective. The club no longer seems to consult them, they said they were going to about ticket allocation yet we only have 1500 tickets for the next local away derby!!

They were supposed to be consulted about things like; standing at the matchs, the best way to handel the fans, and what we needed to know and what we didn't. I've just read an intresting article on For Fox Sake which talks about the letter many of you will also of no dought recived!

Personally I was quite annoyed. But it does raise questions about the FT (foxes trust) IMO because this is primarily the stuff their supposed to deal with!

Many Leicester City fans have reacted angrily to a letter received from the club today.

The letter is asking fans to opt out of junk mail marketing. Those that don't respond within 14 days will basically be giving City the right to sell their names and addresses to companies and marketing agencies. Junk mail. spam and telephone calls from salesmen will no doubt follow.

The letter reads...

Dear ***********

As a valued supporter of the Club we are keen to actively pursue ways in which we can continue to offer ongoing benefits to our customers.

One means of achieving our aim is to utilise one of the Club's greatest assets, our supporter database. With this in mind we would like to use your name, address and contact telephone number details held on our records for
marketing purposes with other carefully selected Companies, which will ensure that you do not miss out on any product or service that may be of benefit to you.

If you do not wish to receive any information about new products and services please complete the attached slip and return it to us at the address mentioned below within 14 days. Alternatively, if you are happy to be contacted about any new products and services but your personal details have recently changed please complete the relevant sections of the enclosed slip.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and for your ongoing support of the Club.

Kind regards
Yours sincerely

CHRIS TINBERGEN
Head of Football Administration

FFS has no problem with the club making the most of it's database and making money where it can. But....all of us that are ST holders / members etc have already ticked the little box to say whether or not we want to get junk mail through our door. And no pre-paid envelope to respond either so it costs us money to tell them something they have already been told.

The Trust will be taking it up with the club, and poor old Chris who had to sign the letter out will no doubt be inundated with complaints. FFS says don't shoot the messenger cos Chris is a nice bloke just doing what he's asked to do! No doubt someone up higher came up with this latest money making initiative...just a shame they misjudged the mood of the fans (again) and didn't talk to the Trust and Supporters Clubs first (again).

I recieved one of those letters yesterday - Absolutely disgusting.

The club are breaking the data protection act - If fans don't respond to the letter, it's stating the club will use them for marketing purposes. This does NOT give the club consent to do this. Why should us fans pay to send the letter back stating we don't want to be involved? If they want to use the fans, we have to be asked to consent for it - Not to be asked whether we don't want to be involved, and then assuming we do if you don't reply.

It didn't even enclose a pre paid envelope to send the thing back which was taking the piss.

I hope the FT are taking this up immediately with the club.

It is unrealistic to expect the club to consult the Trust on everything they do before they do it.

However we do believe that the club should have over the standing issue prior to issuing letters. We therefore responded to the complaints about them we received by issuing a press release & are waiting for a date for the requested open meeting with representatives of L1.

The club has also confirmed the standing issue will be discussed in the Fans Forum.

The marketing letters we will discuss with the club early next week.

We would not have expected these to be discussed prior to issue,as the club will obviously seek revenue from every avenue however a discussion may have been beneficial following the research we have undertaken of what we can & cannot do with our database data. However this area is a shade of grey rather than black & white that message board posters feel when posting.

Re Birmingham ticket allocation, don't forget the club didn't sell all its 1,500 allocation for Wolves.

Yes but some people wanted to be alive at the end of the season!
