The Jamie Vardy appreciation thread

Only Sergio Aguero (10) has scored more Premier League goals than Jamie Vardy (9) in 2019

Within 2 goals now of another 20 goal PL season. Only Salah, Mane, Aguero and Aubameyang ahead of him.

And it looked like it wasn't going to be his game today. A number of things just didn't go right for him. But if there's one thing that typifies Vardy it's that he doesn't stop. His head doesn't drop and he just keeps on working.

Simply incredible that that complete twat isolated him to the point of despair, and actually left him out and played Gray in his place

Even more incredible that some cretins on here thought that was good idea, and that Vardy was finished

Yep, truly laughable

Top five goal scorers in the top league for City:

1. Chandler 203 (1923-1935)
2. Hine 148 (1926-1932)
3. Lochhead 106 (1925-1934)
4. Stringfellow 81 (1962-1975)
5. Vardy 80 (2014-date)

It's also worth pointing out that Chandler didn't score the first of his 203 top flight goals for City until he was 29. Vardy has plenty of games ahead of him.

I quickly looked at that list and thought, blimey, Andy Lochhead scored that many goals for Leicester?

Only one behind the 'Mighty String!' be great if he goes past his total this season....

I thought the most decisive thing was Vardy. He got himself into so many good positions ready to receive the ball, set others up with chances to score a plenty and bagged a pair himself, a near perfect game apart from missed chances to score.

What a player, he has been a heck of a £1M asset, paid for himself over and over again. I'm looking forward to him grabbing the golden boot next season....maybe could have grabbed it this season if Puel had played to his skills (although i like a lot of the team re-shaping that Puel did, thankfully his job's done now).

Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has been announced as the winner of the EA SPORTS Premier League Player of the Month award for April.

The 32-year-old beat off competition from Eden Hazard (Chelsea), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Aymeric Laporte (Manchester City), Shane Long (Southampton), Ayoze Pérez (Newcastle United), Mo Salah (Liverpool) and Chris Wood (Burnley) to win the public vote.

During a sensational month of personal form, Vardy netted in all but one of his four appearances in April, scoring five goals, taking his overall tally up to 18 in the 2018/19 season.

Also helping Brendan Rodgers' men secure seven points from a possible 12 over April, the Club's all-time Premier League top goalscorer is now on 100 league goals for the Club - including his efforts in the Championship.

His first strike in April was a brilliant team goal during a 4-1 win at Huddersfield Town, before the former Fleetwood Town striker added another from the penalty spot at John Smith's Stadium.

Bagging City's first of a 2-2 draw at West Ham United, cutting across the Hammers defence to latch onto Ben Chilwell's low cross, Vardy's lethal touch was on show again in the capital.

Meanwhile, during a dominant 3-0 success over Arsenal, Vardy struck another brace - meaning he has now scored eight goals against the North London side in the Premier League.

He has also been nominated for the PFA Bristol Street Motors Player of the Month award in April and, while voting is now closed, the winner will be announced later this month.
