Wycombe to land mighty Oakes

Notts County midfielder Stefan Oakes is poised to join Wycombe on a two-year deal.

The former Leicester playmaker is out of contract with the Magpies in the summer and has opted to leave Meadow Lane after agreeing a deal with Wanderers boss John Gorman.

Oakes joined Notts 15 months ago on a free transfer from Walsall, making a total of 49 appearances and scoring six times.

Gorman told Wycombe's official website: "It is a major signing for us. I rate Stefan very highly and I am delighted that he has agreed to join us.

"I have known him for years and noticed him when he was at Leicester City so it is great to have the opportunity to finally work with him.

"He's a goalscoring midfielder and could add something very special to our team."
