BBC are putting on 7 programmes across the week starting this evening at 9 pm about the alienation of the white working classes.

Be interesting to see what vantage point this all comes from, they have been showing an incredibly powerful advert all week.

Starts with 'Last Orders', an insight in a Working Club on the breadline. Plenty of Yorkshiremen moaning about life over bitter, cracking telly.

Been looking forward to this, should hopefully wake up those fruit cakes that think we are happy to sit back and accept becoming second rate.

I'm sure everybody in this series will be portrayed as racist though. I hope they interview and focus on the business owners, the man on the street, and the real people with the ability to communicate on a level worthy of listening to.

I half expect them to go to Bradford though and speak to members of the BNP.

I agree to some extent; that this country is getting more and more foreigners, but one thing that pisses me off is those ignorant ***** who say the likes of my parents, come to this country and knick their jobs. Hold the phone a second, surely there would have to be jobs available to get. Probably why the Newsnight discussion was on this subject last night.

I know I've stood up for John Gaunt in the past, with respect to some of his opinions, but last night he didn't cover himself in any glory with his attack on Margaret Hodge. He didn't seem able to have an adult discussion without verbal attacks and shouting down.

Can't see how this series is going to help. It'll be a condescendingly middle class view of "the white working class" and it won't touch upon the main problem, which isn't black or white working folks, but politically correct imbeciles, who know just how others should live - but not in their back yard please.

I don't think ya wrong and as I said interesting to see what point of view they do it from. Read an article on today's programme a minute ago and supposely alright - just never really gets anywhere.
