Tiatto Lays It On The Line
Danny Tiatto has called on all the players to "take a long, hard look at themselves" following Saturday's disappointing 4-2 defeat at Stoke City.
The Foxes are still not out of danger in terms of relegation with seven games remaining this season and the experienced Australian was quick to offer an honest and frank assessment after the final whistle.
He said: "We were disgusted with the way we played on Saturday and it was certainly not the result we were looking for. There can be no excuses.
"We knew it was going to be tough but we just didn't perform anywhere near like what we are capable of.
"The penalty, which never was in our eyes, proved to be a decisive moment and rocked us before half-time but at 2-2 we were the stronger side and looked like we could go on and win it.
"But we shot ourselves in the foot. We paid the price for individuals errors and until we cut those mistakes out then we aren't going to give ourselves much of a chance and aren't going to win too man more games."
City will be back on the training pitches tomorrow ahead of Friday's fixture against high-flying Derby County.
"We know the situation we are in at the moment - we need to win a few more games if we want to make sure we are in this division next season.
"We need to regroup on Monday and take a long, hard look at ourselves.
"All the boys need to look at themselves and if they want to be a part of this club and go places then they've got to do better than that. It's just not good enough at the moment.
"We need to train hard and cut out the errors otherwise we are going to be struggling right up until the end of the season.
"Derby are doing very well and are playing with a lot of confidence but we always seem to have done well against better opposition."
Tiatto, who is returning to his homeland in the summer, started his first league game since January 13 following a hamstring injury but was disappointed with his own contribution.
"It was good to start again but I thought I could have done more to help the team but as a team we just seemed to have one of those days.
"I know I'm leaving at the end of the season but I'm not worried about my future, I just want to help Leicester stay in this division," he added.
"I am one of the experienced players so I must go out and lead by example.
"I need to help make sure all the boys are pushing in the right direction if we are to push on."
