PL games are expected to resume next week but there is a question over games in London.

According to The Athletic, a potential solution is being discussed that involves the London clubs playing the fixture away from home. This would mean Brendan Rodgers' side would host Spurs next Saturday (5:30pm) instead of visiting the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The report suggests that the idea is unlikely to be a popular one with clubs who may have to host a fixture at short notice. Many issues would need to be sorted, such as staffing matches and selling tickets for home and away fans.

Further top flight games remain at risk of being rescheduled because of the Queens' death, but it is said that matches outside the capital are unlikely to be impacted.

They’d have to get moving with an announcement, less than a week before then already.

If only they hadn’t cancelled this weekend’s matches…

What would happen to the Brentford Arsenal match? I guess it would be another of those beautiful moments where one would just have to laugh at some bees.

It's perfectly possible the the Met won't be able to cope with the funeral arrangements on their own and that provincial forces will have to be deployed to assist in the capital, making the reversal of fixtures a non-starter too.

How hard can it be? It's not like the mourners are going to be looking for trouble. Or are the cops expecting a ruck?

I can understand why they need to keep London clear next weekend, but no other reason for football to not go ahead over the weekend so I hope they are able to switch these games.

Or at least go ahead with the ones that aren't playing in London so there is some football on.

EFL to return tomorrow. EPL yet to make a decision.
For the best. Reintroduce things slowly to give our minds time to adjust to life post QE2.

Staggering the restart of things in terms of the level of competition is of course the most respectful way of doing it.

It’s what she would have wanted.

Arsenal v PSV on Thursday night is off. I'll be a bit surprised if this game goes ahead, but who knows.

London will be ****ing mental later this week with hundreds of thousands going to see her lying in state

The Met will say they can't cope with footy as well - and they're probably right

Arsenal's game against PSV on Thursday night has been posted because of pressure put on police needs, so almost certain the weekend fixtures in London at least will go.

Yep. The need to postpone the coming weekend's fixtures (at least those in and already London) seems obvious, certainly understandable.

It just makes the decision to postpone the games from the weekend just gone even more obviously the wrong call.
