It is 10:10pm. The last train on Saturday night has been too early for as long as I can remember. It's crap. The last train during the week is earlier than it used to be too.

It's even worse if you're going to Leicester from the north.

I have also noticed there are no fast trains on the sunday either, the journey back from St Pancras takes over 2 hours......

Booking a hotel now and coming back sunday morning.

There are no buses either, and I thought public transport was getting better...

Even the trains that stop at every station are quicker than that, it's probably due to engineering work.

You might find the train goes through Corby and Melton and enters Leicester from the north, either that or part of the journey will be by bus. What date is it?

Until 23rd March, all Sunday trains and all trains which leave St Pancras after 21:00 Monday to Saturday are diverted between Kettering and Leicester. The trains run via Corby and Melton and therefore arrive at/depart from the north end of Leicester station; bus services are provided for Market Harborough passengers. Southbound services are only affected on Sundays.

This is for planned engineering work and details are in the published timetable.

Has Corby got a station now ? It never had one when I lived there

Corby lost its passenger service in 1966.

There was an experimental service in the late 80s between Kettering and Corby. It was run by Network SouthEast and heavily subsidised by Corby Borough Council - it only lasted 3 years; the irregular and sparse service was not much used, leading the council to cut the subsidy.

East Midlands Trains say they want to re-open the line and will extend the new St Pancras to Kettering service to Corby on an hourly basis. NetworkRail has already allocated £1.2M to rebuild the station and services are due to commenece in December of this year.

I am going to look at coming back via Nuneaton or rugby

Weekend trains from Harborough to Leicester have been a nightmare (or non-existant) for months. Also my daughter wanted a train from Oakham to Leicester yesterday morning and the first one was after noon !

Public transport is a joke at times.
