Even Trev knows a sinking ship when he sees one (in his good eye).

Trevor Benjamin has opted against re-signing for Coventry City and has instead joined League Two side Peterborough United on a three-year deal.

The striker agreed a deal with the Sky Blues in the close season, only to stall on signing the contract.

He reported back to pre-season training with the rest of the squad on July 1, but has now signed a deal with Mark Wright's men.

Said Micky Adams: "I'm very disappointed Trevor has opted to join Peterborough at the eleventh hour after agreeing a deal with us.

"He has been training with us for the last week and has changed his mind at a very critical time as we prepare for the new campaign."

he would probably rather play in a lower league and get first team football then warm the bench at cov

Exactly, Micky has spelt out to Trav that he is only cover - there is no way that he drop down the ladder unless that was the picture. At 26 he needs to be playing first team football whether for Peterborough or Shepshed - I'm afraid he will not even be good enough for League 1 or 2. It' s a shame - the bloke gives everything - just has no talent.

Trev is approaching his prime, and rightly wants to be playing week in week out, over the past 4 or 5 seasons he has played very little first team football and he has made his big money from football. Also why would he want to play at a club who's manager had little faith in him at their last club together.

IMO Trev will do well at Peterboro, he was good at that level when Taylor swooped, and he will benefit from playing regularly, would not surprise me to see him bag 15 - 20 goals.

Good luck to him as well, as he always gave 110% for City, he was never good enough but as like Akinbiyi, he always gave maximum effort for the cause.

I think he might score quite a few in that League,he did so for Cambridge.

I hope you are right.

I'm glad you made the point about Akinbiyi. He received terrible criticism - but that was because of the fee and that was no fault or responsibility of his. As you say, he gave his best. People like Gillespie who has talent but made little or no effort till his contract was running out are the ones who should get the abuse.
