Man Utd boss Alex Ferguson says he has received an approach for prolific striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy from a mystery championship team.

Ferguson:"we have recieved an approach from a team in the championship league. The team has been relegated twice in three years from the premiership and personally i think they will be challenging not only for promotion but for 1st place this season.Obviuosly i do not want him(Van Nistelrooy)to leave but this offer might be too good to refuse"

Yeh i thought that an all, at least Cainy was the original prankster.

But the phrase "relegated in two of the last three seasons" was coined a lot closer to home.

Just found this link below.

Big-spending Leicester have reportedly made an improved offer for Marseille's Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba after a reported initial bid of 17 million pounds (25 million euros) was turned down last month.

Marseille Christophe Bouchet said they would resist any new bid.

"Didier will be in our team next season," he told l'Equipe sports daily.

Foxes coach Michael Adams has made only one move in the transfer market so far, signing Aston Villa utility man Dion Dublin.

But l'Equipe said City's Tim Davies has set his sights on a new striker after being snubbed by Ukraine star Andrei Shevchenko, who signed a new four-year deal with Italian champions AC Milan last month.

Marseille bought Drogba, 26, for six million euros from Guingamp last year and his contract runs to 2008.

He scored 19 of Marseille's 47 goals in the French championship last season and 11 of their 18 goals in their path to the UEFA Cup final, including a brace which killed off Newcastle in the semi-finals.

But Marseille are rebuilding for a serious assault on the French championship next season when Drogba will play a leading role.

Last month Marseille signed France midfielder Benoit Pedretti from Sochaux for 10 million euros and Habib Bamogo for an undisclosed fee from relegated Montpellier for whom he scored 16 goals last season.
