Absolutely superb performance from Joaquin Phoenix and if Reese Witherspoon doesn't get an Oscar something is very very wrong. Both of their vocal performances alone deserve some sort of award.
The story is factually a bit wonky in places, and some of the support casting dubious, but nothing can take away from the fact that this will be one of the films of the year IMO. You don't have to be a Johnny Cash fan or know anything about him to enjoy it, it's more of a love story than anything else and how a man battles with his inner demons.
Go see - 9/10.
