Not much time to practice the new formation. If they attack us, this could be a really open game. I'll guess 3-3.

I wanted 3 at the back but I didn't think he would go to that so soon. I think Gray is desperately unlucky to miss out though.

Hallelujah. We finally have a manager who has looked at what we have and chosen a formation to suit them, rather than trying to stubbornly shoehorn them into a formation.

Expect one hell of a performance from Wes today, as he’ll be hoping the three at the back will work, as it would surely guarantee him another year here.

I’m assuming it’s more of a 3-4-3 formation, with Maddison playing in more of an AMR role?

3 at the back is completely right for this set of players. Chilwell and Ricardo are two excellent players and should be in our team, but both of them whilst great attacking, lack a little defensively. And when they bomb up the pitch, it leaves our two centre backs horribly exposed.

This happened during our title winning season and Claudio then swapped Schlupp and De Laet for Fuchs and Simpson, to keep four out and out defenders at the back. This would completely stifle Chilwell and Ricardo if we kept them permanently at the back, so adding another centre back and having them as wing backs is perfect.

No sure what the midfield shape is.

I’m guessing Maddison slightly withdrawn and Barnes as a number 10?
I’m guessing Ricardo-Ndidi-Tielemans-Chilwell, with then Barnes to the left of Vardy and Maddison to the right.
