Wesolowski Ruled Out
Leicester City have today revealed that James Wesolowski has withdrawn from the Australia squad for their upcoming game against Kuwait on precautionary grounds.
Wesolowski was called up to the Aussie side for the first time on his 19th birthday last Friday.
But after consultation between medical staff from both parties, it has been decided that the midfielder will not take up a place in the squad as he continues his rehabilitation following a series of injuries.
City boss Rob Kelly said: "Obviously we are desperately keen for James to be involved with the Australian national side, but both parties have come to the conclusion that he would be better served to remain in Leicester over the coming weeks.
"He is currently in the final stages of rehabilitation following a broken leg, and he has only played 60 minutes so far this season. With that in mind we agreed his time would be better served with us.
"He has only just completed his first real week of training this season.
"The Australian FA sent over a member of their medical staff to take a look at James with Dave Rennie, our head physio.
"Both of them were of the same opinion and it was therefore decided that James would not travel.
"We know that James will get another chance with the Australian squad again in the near future and we have all therefore rightly looked at the long-term picture."
