I've been delving into the stats from our PL games to find out what is going on. Feel free to add your own interesting observations. In no particular order:
  • Penalties. We got 10 last season and have had 0 so far this season. I can't even think of many close calls. Conclusion - we're not running at defenders in the box any more.
  • Corners against. We conceded 11 from corners last season. It's 4 so far this season. So that's 15 from our last 50 PL matches. We have 6 over 50 games for us so it's a net loss of 9 goals.
  • Shots. We had 487 last season, scoring 68 times. That's 13 shots per match. This season, we have had 125 shots and 16 goals. That's 8 shots per match.
  • Of the 16 goals this season, Vardy and Tielemans have 10 of them. Nobody else has more than one.
  • Only 4 players have more than one assist this season (four have two). Interestingly, none of them played on Saturday (Tielemans, Ricardo, Iheanacho, Perez).
  • Daka has only 90 mins of PL football so far and yet he has one goal and one assist.
  • Only two players have anything like decent stats for key passes this season and you won't guess who - Dewsbury-Hall and Perez.
  • Lookman has been the most wasteful/inefficient player from chances created by and for himself.
  • Our two most creative players this season are Tielemans and Iheanacho.
  • In 9 out of 12 games, our opponents had a better xG than we did.
  • We've played 7 formations so far - based on goals conceded per 90, we are more vulnerable to conceding chances with a back three compared to when we play a back four.
  • When we play 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 we give away shots against very easily - 89 in 487 mins - but we've got away with conceding fewer goals.
  • We've had 51 first half shots compared with 84 in the second half of games.
  • We're far more dangerous when we attack at pace than any other type of attack. However, only one in every 15 shots we take comes from a quick attack.
  • Our opponents have had more shots missed, blocked, saved or hit the post than we have.
  • In half of our games, we've had an xG for us of 1.00 or lower. We've only had an xG of 2+ against Burnley and Man Utd.

Brendan needs to pull his ****ing finger out and get the best out of the team.

On Lookman I wouldn’t hold that against him. At least he is getting into the right positions and making things happen. Similar to Barnes when he’s not scoring.

Surely they know all that at Seagrave so it's hard to understand why they aren't able to put things right.

That Seagrave thing - That's the problem.
It's like when clubs move to a new super-stadium miles from the previous place. It takes two-three seasons for things to gel.

Feel free to disagree. Thank you.

Brendan told the players they have no excuses now that they have the best training facilities in the country.

Yet all he does is make excuses.

A few more stats so far this season in the PL.
  • Schmeichel has come out to claim the ball 8 times this season. Only De Gea has done it less often (7).
  • Only Newcastle (2) have fewer clean sheets than Leicester (3).
  • We're 13th for tackles this season but we have picked up the lowest number of yellow cards (26).
  • The only City player in the top 50 players for passes successfully made this season is Soyuncu.
  • Our 4th highest player for successful passes is Schmeichel (after Soyuncu, Tielemans and Ndidi).
  • Our top player for shots this season is Maddison with 39. Three ahead of Vardy.
  • Iheanacho is our top player for assists (4).
  • Only three players in the PL have been substituted more times this season than Maddison.
  • Only one player in the PL has hit the woodwork more times than Maddison.
  • We've only scored one headed goal all season (Vardy).
  • Vardy has been caught offside more than any other PL player this season, except for Toney at Brentford.
  • Only Maddison and Tielemans (mostly set pieces) are in the top 100 PL players for putting crosses in this season. The complete absence of crosses from our full backs is incredible. Thomas is our best one in 135th place.
  • The only City player in the top 40 for making blocks this season is Soyuncu.
  • The only City player in the top 30 for making interceptions this season is Ndidi.
  • The only City player in the top 40 for making tackles this season is Ndidi.
  • The only City player in the top 50 for making clearances this season is Soyuncu.
  • The only City player in the top 40 for making headed clearances this season is Soyuncu.
  • The only City player in the top 60 for winning aerial battles this season is Soyuncu.
  • We have two of the top four players in the PL for giving away penalties this season (Ndidi and Tielemans).

Iheanacho top for assists having barely played. The way he is being used by Brendan this season is unforgivable.

So we start badly, I think we all know that, but what about the rest of the 90 minutes? We can't be that bad and be in tenth, can we?
