I am really concerned about what we as a team wll achieve next season.CL looks a decent manager but continually buying no marks from Scotland surely won't see us promoted. We despertately need a 20 goals a season striker but nothing seems to suggest a signing is imminent. There has to be on the part of the board a bit of "speculate to accumulate"At the moment i unfortunately see mid table at best.(Hope im wrong!).

I don't buy this "no marks from Scotland" bit. Where does CL have to buy his players from to keep everyone happy? The Premier? Unlikely, and if we do, they will be unproven youngsters or has-beens. Lower leagues in England? Are the players there really better than the SPL? How about Scandinavia? Some of their teams are part time. So... where?

And what about the players he has bought in? Maybury and Hughes are excellent additions to the first team, and you can't argue with that. Douglas will likely be solid and easily good enough at this level, and it sounds like Kisnorbo is here to "do a job" - can he be any worse than Gudjonsson? Sylla sounds like he might be erratic but will at least bring some much-needed skill and excitement. Only MDV has been a flop so far but I for one am prepared to give the big man a little more time.

It's June - the silly off-season - and the lack of football is going to people's heads. It can't be the heat, as it's been 110F here in the desert for over a week and I'm still thinking in a cool, clear, cohesive manner....

Oh, and as for "speculate to accumulate"....

Peter Taylor anyone? :-x

We won't be splashing the cash for many years to come. The club is being run sensibly and that is a very, very good thing. We are literally not allowed to spend any big money, or even small money that isn't earmarked for paying off our many and varied debts. Yes, we are still in debt, and we will be for years to come.

It's a sad fact, but at the moment, we can't compete. This is one of the reasons that CL was brought here, as he is someone who can operate on little funds and get the best out of limited players. Right now, that's what we need.

I agree 100% ,but will the fans tolerate it. A poor start to the season and it will be LEVEIN OUT. Hope not ,give the guy a chance.

Totally agree, we are a club who has just finished in the lower half of the championship with a relatively ageing squad devoid of hunger (except Pressman ! ) and ambition, Levein has done a great job in reducing the wage bill and getting rid of the dead wood, and with little money available he has to try and build a squad capable of challenging for the play offs, my assessment is that this forthcoming season will a massive improvement on the underachievement of last year but as we are now virtually skint we must be paitent and allow Levein time to finish laying the foundations of rebuilding this club. It will be a long and difficult job but he is the man capable of achieveing this.

My prediction: This time in 3 years we will be preparing for Premireship football with Levein as manager. :-D :D

This time next year we will be preparing to go back to the big time. ;-)

ive also been a bit nervous about the fact almost all the players we're linked to are from the SPL but leveins transfer record so far has been very good so im giving him the benefit of the doubt. however i do hope we get a couple of younger players - all these 28/29 year olds could do very well and be desperate to prove themselves after an unhappy time or they could be just looking for a few more seasons solid employment

Well nervous when we're linked to the likes of Sidibe...Oh, and McManaman, I mean for goodness' sake.
