I think I have still got 3 CDs in my Hi-Fi that were in there when I was in first year at uni - 2 years ago!!!

It may well have been invented in the 80s or possibly the 70s but it was not used mainstream until the 90s and my memory does not go that far back to the 80s! - Oldie
