What ever time is on the ref's watch!

If that happens goal times reported during games would have to be adjusted once the ref reports what the real time was.


At least the way it's done now everyone understands it. Just think of the chaos we'd have on this thread if there were two different times for the goal!

If the ref says there is 3 mins to go, that is because he stopped his watch during the game and so what we perceive as 90 minutes is in fact only 87 minutes. Therefore that goal was scored in the 89:39 minute!

It's just one of the things that bugs me!

I agree with you about the awful media coverage of officials and how they have to get everything analysed and over analysed and then blame everything on the officials.

The worst bit is when they start saying "It doesnt bother me when they make a mistake, but its the inconsistency. How a completely different ref, in a completely different match, in a completely different situation, in a completely different incident doesnt get the same decision, thats what annoys me" :icon_roll

Refereeing mistakes are an essential part of the game IMO and we should not seek to remove or rectify them. The ref's performance can be a great leveller and is always one of the biggest talking points.

And there's a lot to be said for venting furiously at the ref, who's a fecking blind wanker! I find it quite cathartic.
