I don't think this is one for the ordinary R.I.P. thread, so...

Paul Taylor, co-author of 'of Fossils and Foxes' passed away on Saturday. When you look at the results of his vast research on the club and its players it could almost make you think that he has been around since 1884; I've always been impressed by his thoroughness.

He will be greatly missed by all his friends in the London Branch and elsewhere.

Boc,

I think I’ve met him coming from London to a couple of games, was he from Scotland?

Sad news.

I got the latest version Of Fossils and Foxes last Christmas and his research is immense......such detail on players, managers and club alike. He will be sorely missed.

Of Fossils & Foxes is an incredible work! The level of detail documenting the club’s history from 1884 to 2016, from A to Z, is something every other Club would be envious about. A marvelous achievment indeed. A soft spoken man and a true gent. Always approchable and friendly. Thank you, Paul. May you rest in peace.

Met him the once years ago, in the 80s maybe, on a train journey. I too found him to be of a gentle manner, clearly knowledgeable but not imposing with it. I had no idea who he was at the time, other than a fellow Leicester fan, but it stuck with me. I recall reading a review in the Independent (I think it was) years later, doing the math and realising he had a talent beyond being just a clued up football fan. I crossed paths with him again a few times over the years following but felt too in awe to ever speak.

News of his death genuinely saddens me.

As soon as I saw the thread title I knew.

What a lovely man he was. Along with the rest of the London branch he made me feel so welcome when I started going. He was a fount of knowledge on all sorts of topics. 'Of Fossils And Foxes' is envied by my friends who support other clubs. We are richer for having known him, and privileged to have had him work so hard on our club's history.

From an FT-thread:

''Having discussed with close family and friends the club have decided against an official minutes silence or applase for the death of co writer, of fossils and foxes on the basis it sets a precident moving forward. Whilst we accept there decision.

We find in this instance, that it shows a lack of understanding from the officials at the club. Paul Taylor dedicated his life to our great club and created the most factual and best reseached documentation of our club. This was not just one of us and we do not wish to jump on any band wagon or disregard any fan but he invested a lot of time in producing a bible for all true fans of our club at his own time.

We appeal to all fans to join in a minutes applase in the 18th minute and the 84th minute. As a mark of respect for a great man.

Please feel free to ignore and avoid negative comments. But we appeal to those who understand to join in.''
