Just over 7000, when was the last time we got a crowd as low as this....I know this cup has been great over the years for us, but out of all the games played last night i think there were only 3 games that had a crowd over 10,000. Is this cup on it's last legs???

I think the reaction from the Grimsby players and fans after their win over Spurs shows that it isnt. Also from Martin Jols interview after it shows that he wanted to do well in the cup.

Maybe some teams field weaker sides because they are concentrating on the league, but IMO cup runs can help the team get on a winning streak and gives the fans something to cheer about! :038:

2nd Round :)

93-94 2nd leg against Rochdale (first leg we won 6-1) in the coca cola drew in 7,612
same season we played West Brom in the anglo italian prelim round...3,588

i dont think its much lower than in previous years its all a matter of who when and where some people saving their hard earned for the saturday ;)

playing a shit team in an early round is the reason. if we get a prem side it will be full

last night's low attendence was foreseeable. so why didn't the leicester board arrange for all the schools in the area to have free tickets for the match, and have a crisp bowl full of kids. get them while they're young!

Whats this? Im too young to know

in the early 1990s, for about two seasons, there was this competition between the english and italian second division teams (championship today). i think it was similar format as the champions league, where we were put in a group stage, then the knock out.

Tht sounds quite good, but I would imagine that it wasn't since the attendences were so crap.

You don't have to go anywhere near that far back to find a small crowd in the League Cup. Last year's 2nd rd tie against Preston attracted less than 7,000 fans - I think it was 6,700 and a few.

Could be wrong but I think that match was a 5pm or 6pm Kick Off for some reason.

It should be rememebered that the Anglo-Italian was not/is not regarded as a first-class fixture, so a low attendance thereat would not constitute a club record.

i remember an anglo scottish match against ayr having a really low gate at filbo ;)
