Directions & Parking
Approx 80 Miles - 1hr 30mins
Leave the M1 at Junction 37 and take the A628 towards Barnsley. Stay on this road (the ground is well signposted) and you will eventually see the ground on your right.
There is a fair sized car park located at the ground.
Trains
If you intend to travel by train, DO NOT purchase a ticket from Leicester to Barnsley (£24.20). You need to purchase a CDR (Cheap Day Return) Leicester to Derby (£7.60), a CDR Derby to Sheffield (£7.80) - (Please note the Leicester to Sheffield train calls at Derby so you do not need to change) and a CDR Sheffield to Barnsley (£3.10) - Total £18.50
If you are travelling in a group of 3 or 4, you can group save on the Leicester to Sheffield leg of the journey by buying the tickets as stated above. You cannot groupsave from Sheffield to Barnsley. For 3 it would be £13.37 each and for 4 it would be £10.80 each.
All of the tickets above have no time restrictions and can all be purchased on the day of the game.
The train station is a 10 minute walk from the ground. From the train station turn left away from the town centre and head towards the bridge that the dual-carriageway runs over. Go under the bridge and turn left up the slip road and then take the first road on the right and head towards the Metro Dome leisure complex at the top of the hill. Oakwell is now clearly visible.
Pubs
The football grounds guide recommends that you don't drink in the town centre, especially near to the Train Station or Bus Station. There seems to be very little information in terms of alternatives, so maybe RS or someone else can recommend ?
