Has it ever previously been held on a Sunday?
Typical of this place, answering question 2 before question 1.
Has someone answered question 1?
"However, it affords us huge, new opportunities to bring in a new TV audience without affecting our traditional support from the public along the course".
I believe question 1 is answered with adequate detail and justification in the article above
Does that not satisfy you?
That was 10 years ago when the day was changed to avoid a clash with the National. Another four races seem to have been held on a Sunday since then but all for particular reasons, but I haven't seen a reason for this year.
Ah...sorry, should have recognised the old BBC website style!
My question would be why the feck is it on TV at all. It's just a two horse race between a bunch of public school bacons arsing about on the water .
