Why was it held on a Sunday?

Has it ever previously been held on a Sunday?

Typical of this place, answering question 2 without answering question 1.
 
I believe question 1 is answered with adequate detail and justification in the article above

That was 10 years ago when the day was changed to avoid a clash with the National. Another four races seem to have been held on a Sunday since then but all for particular reasons, but I haven't seen a reason for this year.

Or why the banks were lined with service personnel, controlling what the public do and where they do it, and no one gives a shit.
