No need to drop anybody. Move Amartey back to replace Simpson.

Two birds. One stone.

A young kid (Amartey) gives his best performance for the club and we immediately tell him that we're going to move him to a completely different position because we prefer a player in midfield that was every bit as useless against Porto as everyone else.

That's not Ranieri's style at all.

Drinkwater can sit on the bench. And if he's unhappy with that then he shouldn't have been a twat against Watford, or hopeless against Porto.

After yesterday, it's now for King or Amartey to play themselves out of the team. We have to reward good performances and try to build some continuity.

Hernandez will come in at right back because that's who the team are familiar with and who makes sense to come in.

When asked about DD returning, after the match yesterday, Ranieri said that it was necessary to make changes, as the game is only 3 days later, so I interpret that as him playing in this match.

I suspect that Hernandez will play at right back and DD will come in for King, who looked a bit more leggy than Amartey yesterday.

Wasn't Hernandez also as useless against Porto as everyone else?

Drinky will play.

Amartey is not exactly a young kid, having played over 100 games in three years for top division clubs in three European countries, many of those games as a defender. Hernandez has started in only two league matches so I don't honestly know how the team can be familiar with him.

Yes, Drinkwater was a twat against Watford, but he has more than proved he is worth a place in the team prior to that. Both he and Hernandez (and almost everybody else) had bad games in Porto so no superior right to a place in the side can be gleaned from that debacle.

I have no doubt that Drinkwater will play; if Hernandez plays either King or Amartey have to miss out. If Amartey, young kid or not, is offered the chance to play in defence rather than not at all, he will jump at it.

Why can't we just play 3 in midfield? I think away from home that is how we should be lining up.

Because Ranieri said the players don't know how to play with 3 in the middle. Bizarre, I know

He tried it at Copenhagen and reverted to 4-4-2 fairly quickly because the players didn't appear to know what they were supposed to be doing.
Hopefully they'll have a chance to work on it on the training ground so we can at least have the option of changing formation if necessary.
