Amerty was having quite a long conversation with there manager. I wonder whether they are trying to get him on loan.
Their paths must have crossed in the past somewhere. It looked a very friendly exchange.

Griffin Park was a cosy little ground, of it's era and once nestled amongst terrace housing. Much like Filbo really. Times change though and that area has gone through big changes (and I'm going back to the 80s when I lived north of there in Ealing)

The new ground is identikit, an IKEA flat pack stadium. Brentford did well to even stay in the vicinity, the ground must be worth heaps due to its location.

When I was a kid for some reason my uncle took me to a game at Griffin Park. I think there was standing down one side of the pitch. My abiding memory is of all the planes overhead and how loud they were. Even as a kid it seemed a little ramshackled to me back then.

I fell asleep about half an hour in. Just caught up with what I missed.

Well done City.

Yep, a proper good outcome for us really considering Brentford are pretty much a PL team.

Except they’re not. I’ve got nothing against Brentford but this isn’t the first time I’ve seen something like this said and it’s not true.

Shows how far we’ve come. In previous seasons going 1-0 down we would have struggled.

The FA Cup will be tough to win with the likes of Man City still in it (Yes we have beaten them already this year) but we should rightly be classed as one of the favourites.

Not read any of the comments yet but I imagine the match thread will be a comical read of meltdown followed by everyone saying we are going to win it.

Whilst we didn't threaten them as much as we should have done first half, I didn't think we were bad at all and bar a couple of corners and free kicks, they didn't threaten much either.

Second half was complete domination. Maddison stepping up and showing his class but I also thought Under had a good game out wide and will be a great alternative to Albrighton.

I thought Perez struggled as the striker as he usually does, surprised Maddison didnt come off to drop Perez back and give Nacho a run out.

Barnes had a good second half too and great to see Ricardo and Soyuncu come through OK.

All in all, a very good afternoons football.

I thought this would be what he did later too.

I've said it several times before, but I think Perez and Nacho both play better with a strike partner close to them throughout - Perez playing off the striker (like Shinji used to) is much more effective, and feel like Nacho does better when he has someone close to play 1-2s and lay it off too etc as well.

It's tricky because youre not going to take out another of our better players just to make a system work with Perez/Nacho in it, but I think you get more out of them both by playing them together.

Nacho has many, many faults for sure - but he also looks far too isolated a lot of the time he plays for us.

So I would've liked to see them support each other for a bit today yo try and get at least one of them a goal.

Hopefully Perez can do the job as a false 9 for a couple of games and Barnes and Maddison can keep scoring. I also wonder if its why we looked at Ünder today to add another one with more goal threat in the mix.

I found it interesting today that we rested/rotated the whole defensive 6 of our starting lineup, but only made 1 change in the 5 attacking members of the team - I definitely think it was a plan to get them working together before they need to in the next league games, and to look at Ünder in that system too

I lived in Ealing in the early 70s and often found myself on the 65 bus heading for Griffin Park. Saw them promoted to the old third division in 1972. Watched a young Stewart Houston there as a Brentford player on loan from Chelsea and Tony Hartley late in his playing career for Notts County. In those days Griffin Park wasn't so different from many grounds around the country.
