Seems to be a lot of talk at the moment about switching suppliers. Various deals from Orange and this new free offer from Sky.

Anybody know much about the Sky offer. I read somewhere it might not be available until next year. I'm tempted to go onto the orange mobile offer if i've got to wait for sky, which is 30 quid a month for internet and mobile. Anyone got any thoughts or should i wait for the sky deal? I am a sky subscriber already.

You need to have an existing sky digital contract, and be in an area where it is available. No idea which areas there are, but i understand they are fairly restricted so far, and it will be "several years" before there is full coverage.

Some are also querying how long the low cost will last - it is being seen as primarily a bait to lure Freeview viewers onto satellite. But then most of these "free" or very cheap deals are also about grabbing market share and are unlikely to last.

It has been pointed out in several threads on here recently that you tend to get what you pay for.

It depends how much usage you want, my parents are with the Orange free option that you get on certain contracts, but it's got a 2GB monthly cap, which would be no good for me but I guess is fine if you just browse and use emails.

I download the odd music/video file. How many a month roughly would 2 GB let me do?

you can pay an extra £10 with orange for unlimited use. don't know if this is good value or not bu worth knowing if you are comparing.

i have got the free service, my £30 contract gives me 650 minutes, and 1100 texts. and free evening and weekend calls through the livebox. plus broadband. this is through the whole 18 month contract
