Which station are you departing from and do you have a destination station in London in mind. Will it be the same coming back? :102:

Megatrain has a £12.50 fare for your outward journey. East Midlands Trains will bring you back for £14.00. You're going to need a very economical car to beat that.

Don't use thetrainline, they charge a booking fee, the train operator websites don't.

Hull to Newcastle is £19.50 on the 9:02 on the Friday.

There are tickets available for Newcastle-Hull for £8.90, £12.45 and £16 depending on the time of day.

Some of those tickets include a discount that is only available if you buy them from Eastcoast.co.uk

You need to be aware that from mid-afternoon on Saturday (and, I think, all day on Sunday), the East Coast Main Line is closed between Durham and Darlington. Some services are cancelled between Newcastle and Darlington with a bus replacement whilst others are subject to diversion and a reversal at Darlington. Either way, there will be a delay of about 40 minutes.
