Luckily I've got a friend who had an old hard drive and a copy of windows 7.

Just bought a "Compaq Presario SR5109UK Dektop PC" from Leicestershire police for £21.00. Are they any good?

It's nothing special, dual core Pentium but only a gig of RAM, and 256MB of that is given over to the graphics card. It won't be up to much in the way of online gaming, but for 20 quid it's more than adequate for general browsing and day to day stuff.

It'd also be a good box to try Linux on, you should give it a spin.

I did consider Ubuntu but it's for my daughter's schoolwork and (she says) it's not compatible with the soft ware at school.
