If you used the icon the http bit should be highlighted automatically, so you should just be able to paste a new url in and it will replace what was already there. If instead of just pasting something in you place the cursor at the end of the line it won't work, but that's always been the case.

I use the 'create link' icon. In the old version the http bit was highlighted, but in the new version, it isn't. Hence you now have to remember to highlight it before pasting the URL in - that is the difference.
