am I right in thinking it is our academy team that enters?
Not exactly. It's under 21s, with some older players allowed. So we might not be able to play our full under 23 team, but we could play a mixture of young players and older players.
I've been looking at the rules for the coming season in the EFL trophy, and they don't make sense.

I've worked it out. They've got some stuff in the wrong place.
What it should say is this:
7.8 Each Invited Club must ensure that in each Match:
7.8.1 at least six of the starting eleven players named on the Team Sheet are players who were aged under 21 as at the 30th June in the year in which the Season concerned commenced; and
7.8.2 no more than two players who:

I've been to Grimsby and Sunderland, with City. Can't say I'll be looking to use this draw as a reason to go to Scunthorpe, though.

I’ve been to Scunthorpe several times, and similarly won’t be using this competition to tick off Grimsby or Sunderland.

I saw a 0-0 thriller in Grimsby and a similar 0-0 barnstormer in Sunderland (albeit that put us top of the league at the time).
I don't fancy a day out in Scunny watching a similar thing.

Can’t say I’ve ever ****ed anyone from Lincolnshire. Fingered someone from Sleaford once, but that doesn’t count.
Probably rather watch us play Grimsby, honestly.

Barms = excellent. And doing a tour of Rugby League clubs makes you realise that Wigan is paradise. St Helens, Widnes, Hull, etc...
