Skyward looks, fingers pointing upwards on goal scoring.

The god of your choice (or not) has more pressing engagements than football.

I think a lot of the players celebrating that way aren't looking/pointing to a god, but to a deceased relative.

No idea but, ok, howsabout, the dead have more pressing engagements than football?

Seriously though, whatever the reason, I find that sort of celebration a little too much. It's only a goal, let's get things in perspective. No need to invoke calls to matters spiritual. I think Vardy's 'tongue out' is far more suited. As indeed are silly little dances. I LIKE silly little dances.

Perhaps it would be more balanced if they point up and then down - as no one can really be certain where someone has gone.

Come to think of it - if this action was then repeated a couple more times it could turn into a bit of a Saturday Night Fever dance!

As far as I'm concerned people can thank or dedicate their goal to anyone/thing they like. I'll be too busy either celebrating or berating the defence/goalkeeper depending on who scored.

I've been visualising this and smiling for ages now. I've even added a tannoy blaring out an appropriate disco anthem (which I know will annoy Kettering Pete) I'm going to be chuckling away to myself for a bit now. Small things small minds, I know.

Can't find the NOT LIKE button

The phrase “triggered the release clause”. Like there is some kind of physical ****ing trigger.

The phrase Frank Lampard's Derby County.....oh, it's in already?
I suppose the correct name for 'the Rams' is now the Team formerly known as Frank Lampard's Derby County or TfkaFLDC for short.

"swoop"... as in just signed a player.

No club just signs anyone any more, not according to headlines anyway.

Following 'swoop', 'admit' is another (though not football specific)

As in the mockery's "Peréz admits the Evian training camp was good" Wtf, is to admit about it? Did he previously state he thought it was going to be a pile of cack? Did he keep it a secret that he was going? He admits nothing by saying he thought it was good.
