Going to try and break the reliance on MS at my place of work but it's going to be tough! Those I have introduced Firefox and Thunderbird to have no problems but now it's time for an office suite.

Anybody got anything to say on whether I should go for Libre or Apache?

Also, and this is for me not work, could do with a decent alternative to MS Money for a Linux box.

Thanks.

Libre Office for me, works well with MS Office file formats and has very active ongoing development team plus great resources for help with any problems.

I was hoping you would reply Macky as over the years I have grown to trust *most* of your software recommendations.

And no, that wasn't intended as sarcasm :icon_bigg

Thanks.

Macky - Mate, Cinnamon, KDE or Xfce with Mint Nadia?

I'm gonna give a cautious nod to Cinnamon, but I've only given it a test drive. I'm still running Isadora with the old Gnome as I've not been able to update due to a few PC problems that I've been too lazy to fix

Thanks. And thank you too for not just telling me to download them all and try them all out for myself :icon_lol:

Macky, I installed the 32bit version of Mint14 on my 64bit PC. Seems to work just fine. Should I have used the 64bit version of Mint14 or don't you think it matters?

Cheers :icon_bigg

(Nixie Pixel eh? Just saying!)

erm... if you'd asked me before you'd installed it I would've said don't do it, but if it works, it works. Bit stumped to be honest, but it's given me something to investigate tomorrow

**** yeah, they'd have to dig me out of her I'd be buried so deep

I've done some Googling but opinions are 'mixed' to say the least! Of course the beauty of Linux is that it isn't any problem to install the 64bit version! I've already downloaded the ISO but I'll see what you think later before installing it :icon_cool

Only came across her tonight whilst Googling the above. Wish I had literally :050:
