We seem to have developed a realy solid defence this season which is amongst one of the more miserly in the division. This in its self is a good building block for success, but i feel there are still a number of changes required before we can push on to become a real consistent force in this division.

We are not really either creative or mobile enough to over come the better teams in this division on a regular basis. I wondered what others thought we could do to improve in these areas.

I for one think we need to overhaul our midfield before we can improve significantly. Both Johnson and Hughes are very slow and are not capable of influencing play consistently enough. Williams is undoubtably the most talented midfielder, but seem's so languid and laid back he's almost horizontal. Then theres Tiatto and Weso, both useful holding midfielders (kickers) but unlikely to unlock a tight defence with a 40 yard killer pass.

All in all i think we either get some new midfield blood in after xmas or we need to start looking at the academy again to identify any creative nuggets.

I'm not having a moan, i'm actually trying to be positive about how we can kick on and push for a top ten finish.

Agree, the midfield has been the main problem all season. Johnson has been very disappointing, Williams unfit for one reason or another, Hughes gets involved but is to lightweight, Weslowski still troubled with injuries, Low has good and bad games, too inconsistant, Levi still learning the game at this level, Danny has very good games and very bad ones, his legs don't carry him about like they use to. They don't support the strikers enough. We need a skillful player to control the midfield and teach the younger ones the ropes.

I think you will find Weso is more than capable of killer passes, he's a very good player and if he gets a chance and stays fit i expect him to have a good run of games. We need someone like him in there to gee people up, his communication and leadership is beyond his years.
